Janitronics Building Services Rafael Moscat continues to gives back to the community
Janitronics Building Services is excited to share for the fifth consecutive year, Rafael Moscat, our dedicated Warehouse Manager, took time off from his Janitronics responsibilities to bring to and coach the Stars Baseball League in the Dominican Republic. The Stars Baseball League is a non-profit organization that offers a comprehensive youth Baseball program to ages 6-18 in the communities of Roslindale, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Roxbury and Dorchester. Their mission is to teach discipline, responsibility, and sportsmanship through Baseball.
This year, 14 players participated in a tournament and played in 7 different games in 6 days. Out of the 14 players, for 9 of them it was the first time visiting the DR. Most of the team had the opportunity to reunite with family members they hadn’t seen in a couple of years. Their loved ones watched and supported them enthusiastically from the stands.
The Stars traveled throughout the Dominican Republic to play in 3 cities such as Bani, San Juan, and Santo Domingo. They woke up as early as 6am to get ready for a full day out on the field. Rafael states “No one wanted to stay back at the hotel. Everyone was very happy to wake up early and play baseball.” All funds for the trip were raised by the team and their coaches through donations and raffle ticket sales. For many of them, it was a dream come true to play in the Dominican Republic.
One amazing story that stood out to Rafael, was that he was asked by a prestigious academy to bring 4-5 players from the Stars Baseball League to showcase their skills such as running, hitting, and catching on the field. This was a special opportunity for the players since it can give them a future in baseball or a scholarship to school. It was a great experience for everyone, and we are looking forward to seeing what happens in the future for the players.
